(Reference number: 119594) www.ardtarmon.com Ardtarmon House and Cottages are set amongst 20 acres of mature grounds on the north coast of Sligo Bay, overlooking Drumcliff Bay with Knocknarea on the opposite side. The rural and coastal surroundings of the Yeats Country in County Sligo invite walks on the shore, along country roads, and through the grounds. You may choose to stay either in the 19th century Ardtarmon House in generous Bed and Breakfast rooms, or take the option of staying in one of the five self-catering cottages. Cottages and grounds are suitable for children to roam and explore; they can enjoy table tennis in the games room or safe swimming within 500m on the private beach. Five generations of the family have lived in Ardtarmon House, and the traditional feel of the residence has remained intact, offering guests an insight into the lifestyle of bygone times while experiencing modern comfort. Self-catering Cottages: There are five renovated self-catering cottages for you to choose from: The Gate Lodge, Thatched Cottage and three converted farm buildings: The Garden Cottage, The Harness Cottage and The Barn Cottage. The Gate Lodge A compact house originally built in 1884, the Gate Lodge is located at the start of the avenue to Ardtarmon House. It has a secluded and quiet atmosphere overlooking woodland, the willow plantation, and bog land across the road. The lodge is comprised of a sitting room with wood-burning stove, kitchen, double bedroom, adult-sized bunk bedroom, an attic twin bedroom, and a small shower room. It is warmed with electric heating, and is ideal for a couple, family, or small group. 450 euro per week all in. The Harness Cottage This cottage has a double bedroom, sitting room with open fire, kitchen, shower room, and eco-friendly central heating. The cottage is placed at a junction of the old farm buildings, including part of the dairy, the engine room, the harness room and store room. The bedroom can be converted into a twin bedroom, making it ideal for a couple on a break or a small family on holiday. 350 euro per week all in. The Thatched Cottage This cottage is the original family home, dating from between 1790 and 1840. It has two small adjoining living room areas, a spacious kitchen, a bathroom and two small bedrooms- one a double and one with adult sized bunk beds. There is an open fireplace and environmentally-responsible central heating. The cottage is snug and charming and faces onto the Main House front lawn. 450 euro per week all in. The Garden Cottage This is a converted farm garage with a combined sitting room and kitchen, a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a shower room, with eco-friendly central heating. The stonework came from a local ruined cottage. From the back door, you have a delightful pathway leading to a sheltered original seating area with millstone seats and a slab table. The surroundings give playground and safety for small children, or peace and tranquility for a retreat. 450 euro per week all in. The Barn Cottage This cottage gets its name from its former use as a storage barn for seed potatoes and hay. The Barn Cottage has a combined sitting room and kitchenette, a double bedroom, and shower room- all with environmentally-sound central heating. The Barn Cottage's size and location make it ideal for a couple's retreat in peace or for an individual's quiet study for exams. 300 euro per week all in. Shorter periods than one week are also available in all cottages.
