LOCATION: You are spoilt for choice with regard to the number of amenities and sites that welcome you here in the South West of Kerry. You only have to look up to our skies to enjoy the only area in the Northern Hemisphere that has been awarded as a 'Dark Sky Place' by the International Dark Sky Association. Due to our fantastic geographic location the skies are remarkably free of artificial light pollution, which makes it ideal for star gazing. Once daylight breaks, the area has so much more to offer you. We have our own UNESCO world heritage site in the form of Skellig Michael with boats leaving during the summer months from Ballinskelligs and Portmagee. This is a cone-shaped rock rising from the Atlantic that was one of the world's finest examples of an early Christian Monastic site. It was touched with some Hollywood glamour this summer, as it provided a backdrop to a number of scenes for the recent Star Wars movie: The Force Awakens There are so many options if beaches and sea life are what you are looking for. A short walk/drive from the house will find you at Reenroe beach. This is a beautiful, unspoilt beach that is about 1 mile long and enjoys many activities during the summer months such as surfing, fishing, walking, horse riding to name but a few. Also within a short drive away is Ballinskelligs beach and many others. Fishing trips can be organised in the town of Port Magee, which also gives you access to Valentia Island which has such attractions as the Slate Quarry and grotto. For night time, there are a variety of restaurants to choose from, to sample the local cuisine in Waterville, Ballinskelligs or Cahersiveen. Cahersiveen is a town of great historical and archaeological importance. Visit the birthplace of Daniel O'Connell, stroll around The Daniel O'Connell Memorial Church, Ballycarberry Castle and Cahergall Stone Forts. Fair days are held regularly on the main street where the old and young meet. Waterville is your traditional waterfront village, which the house offers spectacular views of. It has a stunning promenade walk which stretches the length of the village. During the summer months you would be forgiven for thinking you were in a Mediterranean location. It is on this walk that it is on this walk that you will come across one of Waterville's most famous holiday guests, Charlie Chaplin. Don't forget to have your photo taken with his dashing statue. Other famous visitors include Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas and Tiger Woods (who came to play our world famous championship golf links).
