The entrance at the back of the cottage welcomes you into a foyer, perfect for hanging coats and discarding muddy boots. This leads right into the heart of the cottage. In addition to efficient gas central heating, warmth radiates from a wood burning stove, the centrepiece of the large living/dining room, where sunlight floods from huge windows, making it a perfect place to entertain friends or enjoy family time. The room has a french door leading to a sun terrace at the front of the house: an outdoor extension to the cottage, creating a seamless flow ideal for hosting summer barbecues or simply enjoying your morning coffee. Adjacent to the living/dining room is a functional kitchen, equipped with all the amenities you might need. One feature is a serving hatch connecting the kitchen to the dining area, allowing for easy and convenient interaction between the two spaces. The cottage boasts three spacious double bedrooms, one of which is ensuite. Two of the bedrooms, situated to the front of the house, enjoy exceptional views over Cashel Bay. While one is framed by a large picture window, the other opens up to the sheltered sun terrace. This bright room also lends itself to other uses, such as remote working. Doon Cottage has the advantage of high-speed fibre broadband. There are two additional bathrooms, each complete with a bathtub, sink and toilet. GARDENS & GROUNDS The property is approached by a driveway lined by shrubs and evergreens, entered via crafted stone pillars and a pair of wooden gooseneck gates, culminating in a gravel turning circle and a parking area with ample space. Surrounding the cottage, informal gardens unfold. Mature evergreen trees stand tall, offering shade and a sense of privacy, while flowering shrubs are scattered throughout the garden, adding flashes of colour against the lush green backdrop. LOCATION Connemara is famous across the world as one of Ireland's most scenic and appealing areas along the Wild Atlantic Way. It is renowned for its wide skies, rugged landscapes, stunning mountains, pristine lakes and breath-taking coastal scenery. The region is further characterized by its vast expanses of bogland and attractive villages. Doon Cottage is ideally situated overlooking Cashel Bay and the beautiful, rugged coastline, sheltered by surrounding trees and the 310m high Cashel Hill to the north. While beautifully secluded, the cottage is not isolated. Cashel is a friendly locality, and right next door is the Doonreagan estate, home to the Earl and Countess of Roden. The popular resorts of Clifden and Roundstone are a short distance away. Clifden is a cosmopolitan town, with cafés, bars, restaurants, hotels and shops, sports clubs and good local schools. Roundstone, once a small fishing village, is now a favoured holiday destination with pubs, cafés and restaurants. The famous beaches of Gurteen and Dog's Bay are a couple of kilometers away. Ballynahinch Castle Hotel, one of Ireland's leading luxury hotels, set in a private 700-acre estate of woodland, rivers and walks, is also within easy reach. Hill walking, mountain climbing, fly fishing, golf and horse riding are available locally, as are water sports of all kinds: swimming, windsurfing, canoeing, paddle boarding, snorkeling, sea fishing and sailing. The area is home to several notable attractions, such as Kylemore Abbey, a handsome castle with renowned historic gardens, situated on the shores of Kylemore Lake. Another landmark is the Connemara National Park, encompassing some 2,000 hectares of scenic wilderness. The park offers numerous walking trails, including a hike up Diamond Hill. The city of Galway, with its delightful medieval core, is approx. 67 km away. It offers plenty of amenities, including a wide choice of hotels and restaurants, shopping centres, cinemas, theatres, art festivals, hospitals and a university going back nearly 200 years.
